CDA Products Limited - How we label our Food products (edible cake decorations)
We work closely with the
Trading Standards department at Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council
to make sure all our products adhere to the latest food labeling regulations.
As from the 13th December 2014 all edible cake decorations we produce will comply with the new requirements of
EC regulation 1169/2011
on the provision of food information to consumers.
In a nutshell
- The Food Information be in characters at least 1.2mm high
- The name of our food will be clarly marked as Edible Wafer Cake Decorations (or similar)
- Our Ingredients List will be in decending order of weight of the item in the product

All the food colours we use will confirm with
EC regulation 1333/2008
on food additives and
EC regulation 1129/2011
which introduces Annex II to EC1333/2008

Our labelling of any flavourings will adhere to
Article 3(2) of regulation 1334/2008

Any edible decorations of ours that contains;
Sunset yellow (E 110), Quinoline yellow (E 104), Carmoisine (E 122),
Allura red (E 129), Tartrazine (E 102) or Ponceau 4R (E 124)
will contain the prescribed warning may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children

We will include a Best Before: date to indicate the end of the month and year.

We will include our unique Batch No: number so we can record full details of the product.

Any vegetable oil used will be identified ie Olive Oil or Vegitable Oil (Palm) or Palm Oil

Any additives used will comply with
Part C Annex VII of EC 1169/2011
at levels quantum statis (so add as much of this ingredient as is needed to achieve the desired result, but not more) or below the levels defined in the regulation.

Any ingredients or additives will be listed in the relevant Section and identified by their category name in the ingredients followed by their specific name and /or E number.

If any of our products contains any of the 14 Allergens
(Cereals (wheat, rye, barley, oats, spelt or kamut), Crustaceans, Eggs, Fish,
Peanuts, Soybeans, Milk,
Nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, cashews , pecan nuts, Brazil nuts, pistachio nuts, macadamia or Queensland nuts)
Celery, Mustard, Sesame seeds, Sulphur dioxide and sulphites, Lupin or Molluscs>
) as defined in
Annex II of EC 1169/2011
they will be highlighted in the ingredients list.

We will not be including a "Cannot Guarantee Nut Free" warning on any of our products as we would have to include this warning for the other 13 ingredients considered allergens as well.

From 13th December 2016 EC 1169 2011 brings in compulsory nutritional labelling. We will not be introducing nutritional information until closer to this date.
